Cyberbullying

Over the centuries, crimes has always been present. Crimes like murder, theft, robbery, homicides, and a lot more. But there is this specific crime that originated when technology had risen. It is called the cyber crimes, crimes like cyber stalking, hacking, identity theft, phishing, and etc. But here is one of the most biggest and known crime: it is the Cyberbullying crime. Known and made possible by the millenials, cyberbullying has now been very widely on this technological world. Cyberbullying according to the bullying statistics is a form of violence that happens through internet, mobile phones that can harass or harm a person, mostly teenagers. Cyberbullying can be:

●Sending mean messages or threats to a person’s email account or cell phone.

●Spreading rumors online or through texts.

●Posting hurtful or threatening messages on social networking sites or web pages.

●Stealing a person’s account information to break into their account and send damaging messages.

●Pretending to be someone else online to hurt another person.

●Taking unflattering pictures of a person and spreading them through cell phones or the Internet.

●Sexting, or circulating sexually suggestive pictures or messages about a person.

This activities has a big effect on the victims. This may lead to depression, traumas, and suicide and can also affect in their social, mental, and physical status. This are still happening in social media platforms, mostly in facebook and twitter. There are over half of the teenagers that are being bullied and half are also the perpetuators. To think that, instead of using technology and internet to make our world better, teens use it to hurt and harass their own kind. Cruel and hurtful words are much more painful than physical pain. If you think you are one of the victims, ask for help immediately and let yourself think that bad things cannot be solved by bad things too. Do the right way of stopping it, do not seek for vengeance. If you are the bully, then think clearly of what you have done. We, are not in the position to judge of what you have done but remember that what you have done is wrong and you have to accept the consequences.

We, teenagers should be the examples beacause we are the future of this world. We are to make this world a better place for the generations to come. We should use technology for the better and not for attacking our own kind. Be an advocate of anti-cyberbullying. Don’t just be a teen. Be a teenager with a hope for a better future in this world. Put a color in someone’s life today and STOP CYBERBULLYING.
